The AQUA-REX costs about $25.00 per year to operate

How does it work?

It causes a chemical change in particles in the water so that they behave as nucleation seeds which attract calcium and scale when water is heated.

What happens to the Limescale?

It forms on nucleation seeds in suspension in the water, then gets carried away with the flow of water so it doesn’t stick to pipes or heaters.

Does it soften the water?

The calcium is still in the water, but in a suspended solid state, rather than a dissolved state.  Because there is less dissolved calcium in the hot water, it behaves like partially softened water.  There is no discernible change in the cold water, but scaling from sprays and jets is less.

How does it get rid of existing scale?

The scale doesn’t dissolve, it exfoliates where it is attached to a surface.  It is especially effective on yellow scale containing iron.

Are Water-King and AQUA-REX the same?

Yes.  Water-King is the registered trademark in Europe, but in USA the name AQUA-REX is used.

** Please Note – The AQUA-REX is not a water softener.  As a result, calcium is still in the water.  In a dishwasher, a softening agent will still need to be used.  If no softening agent is used, the drying action of the dishwasher will cause spots on the dishes.

What is the annual maintenance cost for this system?

The NWS-55 has no annual maintenance costs.  There are no filters to replace and no bags of salt to add.

How long can the filtration last without having to change filters?

The Granulated Activated Carbon & KDF-55 Filters have an estimated life of 10 years, or 1Million gallons.

Why do you call the water “healthy water”?

The filtration system removes the harmful chemicals & heavy metals from the water, but retains the healthy minerals such as Calcium and Potassium.  Calcium in the diet has been linked to reduced risks of heart disease, and is an essential nutrient in our diet.

Will this system replace my existing water softener?

Yes.   Since the NWS-55 is installed on the soft water loop, our technicians will remove your water softener and also your Reverse Osmosis system (if you have one).

Will it give me the “slippery” feeling when I’m in the shower?

No, the water system will not give you the “slippery” feeling that you get with water softeners.
